There is a perception that heritage vehicles must be bad for the environment but actually they behave better than their modern counterparts.
First of all they have been used for more than 60 years so any impact from their initial manufacturing carbon footprint has been well and truly ‘repaid’, where modern buses average life span is around 15 yrs. Compared to a modern vehicle the MPG on our vintage buses is around 10-12 mpg on modern vehicles normal double deckers tend to be 4-6MPG, with hybrids getting 8-10MPG. Our heritage vehicles offer mass movement of people who might otherwise use a multitude of smaller vehicles.
All in all heritage vehicles actually have a low carbon footprint compared to many other vehicles.
